Sometimes, the best experiences in life are the ones that are completely unplanned. This was certainly the case for my recent trip to Tirupati, a journey that began with a simple prayer: "Let the best happen to me." Little did I know that this spontaneous adventure would turn into one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
As we set off on a Saturday morning at 1 AM, excitement buzzed in the air. We had no idea how the free ticket system worked, and the thought of long queues made us plan to stay for two days. However, it seemed that fate had other plans for us. We arrived at Alipiri at 4 AM, and to our surprise, we found a counter offering tickets to Srivari Mettu. We were blessed to get a Divya Darshan slot at 11 AM same day.
With our tickets in hand, we decided to make the most of our early morning. The gate to Srivari Mettu opened at 6 AM, so we took the opportunity to visit the Sri Kalyana Venkateshwaraswami Temple and listen to the Suprabhatham. This was a completely new experience for us, and it set a positive tone for the day ahead.

The climb up Srivari Mettu was both exhilarating and exhausting. We parked our car and began our ascent, but the combination of sleeplessness and a recent viral illness made the climb more challenging than I had anticipated. It took us two and a half hours to reach the top, and by the time we arrived, we were completely drained.
After a much-needed breakfast and a quick power nap, we felt rejuvenated and ready for the next part of our journey. We had our tonsure, and I even earned some bonus points for two additional tonsures from my friends. It was a light-hearted moment that added to the joy of the day.
Finding the Divya Darshan queue proved to be a bit of a challenge, but we entered the line at exactly 10:50 AM. We had braced ourselves for a long wait, expecting to be in line for at least 5-6 hours. To our astonishment, we completed the process in just three and a half hours!
As we moved closer to the sanctum, I chanted, "Om Sri Venkateswaraye Namo Namaha, Shreeman Narayan Namo Namaha, Tirumal Tirupati Namo Namaha, Jai Balaji Namo Namaha." The atmosphere was electric, and I felt a deep sense of connection to the divine. By 2:30 PM, we emerged from the temple, our hearts full and spirits high.
After purchasing our famous Laddus and Vadas, we made our way back to the car, reaching it by 4:30 PM. The drive home was filled with laughter and discussions, and we arrived back by 8:30 PM. The entire trip was stress-free, and I was grateful for the wonderful company that made the journey even more enjoyable.
Reflecting on this unplanned trip, I realised that sometimes, letting go of control and trusting the universe can lead to incredible experiences. The spontaneity of our journey allowed us to embrace each moment fully, and the unexpected twists only added to the adventure.
This trip taught me several valuable lessons:
Embrace the Unexpected: Life is full of surprises, and sometimes the best experiences come from unplanned moments.
Faith and Trust: A simple prayer can open doors to experiences you never thought possible. Trusting in a higher power can lead to beautiful outcomes.
The Power of Companionship: Good company can transform any journey. Sharing experiences with friends made the trip enjoyable and memorable.
Stay Open to New Experiences: Trying new things, like visiting the Sri Kalyana Venkateshwaraswami Temple, can enrich your journey and provide unique insights.
Celebrate Small Wins: Whether it’s a successful climb or a quick power nap, acknowledging small victories can enhance your overall experience.
In conclusion, my unplanned trip to Tirupati was a beautiful reminder of the magic that can happen when we let go of our expectations and embrace the journey. With faith as our guide, we can turn spontaneous adventures into unforgettable memories. So, the next time you find yourself with an opportunity for an unplanned trip, take a leap of faith. You never know what incredible experiences await you!

Beautifully written. Looking forward to more such blogs.
Well brought out Rajeev and really enjoyed reading it!! Lessons learnt from the trip is spot on and even we had such experiences before which were really and truly amazing. In fact I now realise that our unplanned trips were far better than the planned ones. So no harm in going for the unexpected. Another vital cog in the wheel is companionship during trips and somehow I don’t enjoy solo trips at all.
Looking forward to more such episodes of simple pleasures of life.
